Moral Excellence – The quality of doing what is right and avoiding what is wrong. Voluntary obedience to truth.

If you weren’t in church on Sunday or had a little nap during the service…. or even if you heard Chad’s sermon in its entirety, I feel like we all could listen to it again and still not glean everything that we could.

Really Outside Dave can teach us lots of lessons. #1 Don’t hang on screens – it's not good for the screen or you. #2 Don’t be annoying but #3 We can also learn persistance.

I felt like the sermon was very timely as we start out a new year. New Men’s and Women’s groups beginning…. New Year's Resolutions always consist of doing better and something. If you aren’t into resolutions but maybe are a goal setter. Outside Dave definitely has the goal of becoming Inside Dave.

My challenge to you this week is to be as persistent as Outside Dave…. But maybe your goal shouldn’t be to get into Chad and Sondra’s house but to get into God’s Word – His love letter written to us – our instruction manual for how to live – how to sin less – how to really pursue that Moral Excellence that Chad spoke about.

Chad began with 2 Peter 1:3-4, basically telling us that God’s powers can lead us to a Godly life. We ourselves don’t have the resources to truly be holy/godly. But God allows us to share in his divine nature and live for him with the guiding of the Holy Spirit. Continuing reading, verse 5-7 shows us how to put our belief into action – growing in moral excellence. The “Why” is in verse 8 if we pursue these things, we won’t become ineffective and unproductive.

So let's start the year out – striving to be effective and productive for God - Let’s follow his map…and Be an Outside Dave and strive to be Inside – inside God's word and His excellence.
