Good Morning?
November 6, 2024Good morning?
Notice, that is a question not a statement. For roughly two years our country has been waiting for the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 6. Campaigns, commercials, rallies, debates, interviews, podcasts, and political pundits have been analyzing every word, action, and sneeze from our presidential candidates. Now it’s all over. (I am writing this in advance so I am going on faith that we have results.)
Today our country starts a “new normal”. The party that won celebrates. The party that lost licks their wounds and plans for the next election. But for both sides there is collateral damage. Our country has been warned, scared, and baited into thinking their lives depended on the outcome of yesterday's election. Now that it has come, no one tells them what to do next.
If that is you, or if you need a reason to say, “Good morning”, I offer you the greatest news you will ever hear. Let me introduce (or re-introduce) you to a person who hasn’t been given much air time over the past two years. He has largely been set to the side as irrelevant or offensive. One day the government will be his and his alone. People will recognize him as a counselor full of wisdom, an authority more powerful than can be imagined, someone who leads like a good father leads his family, and his power will bring the peace that every person hopes for. The government that he rules over will have no end and his nation (a.k.a. kingdom) will establish and uphold justice around everything that is right. There will no longer be elections, nor will there be term limits. He will rule forever. He doesn’t have to be elected because the power of God will accomplish all of this for him (Isaiah 9:6-7).
His name is Jesus. He has been the reason, is the reason, and will always be the reason anyone can say, “Good morning”!
