Wednesday in the Word

How do you feel about the Word of God?

Does reading the Word bring you joy? Does it make you excited? Do you look forward to your devotional time, or has it become something to power through so you can keep pace with your reading plan?

In his book Taking God At His Word, Kevin DeYoung states; "Too often, Christians reflect on only what they should believe about the Word of God. But Psalm 119 will not let us stop there. This love poem forces us to consider how we feel about the Word of God."

While much can be said about sticking it out and keeping the Word a part of your day, even when you don't really feel like reading it, I would like to challenge us all to think about loving the Word as much as we love the Lord. Remembering that the two are not separate (John 1:1), and that the Word was left for us because of His love for us. That we may know Him and rejoice in Him and in His Word.

I rejoice in following your statutes
as one rejoices in great riches.
I meditate on your precepts
and consider your ways.
I delight in your decrees;
I will not neglect your word.
-Psalm 119:14-16
