Wednesday in the Word

It has been happening for a while now. The days have been getting shorter and colder. It can be easy during this time of year to feel down because of the lack of sunlight or the coldness in the air. But we must always remember that it is our loving Father who makes each day. Even the short, cold ones. And it is His word and His love poured out by His Spirit through His Son which sustains us.

Matthew Henry wrote:

"One word from him will calm every storm, and turn midnight darkness into the light of noon, the bitterest complaints into joyful praises."

It doesn't really matter what the weather is like, or how many hours of daylight we have on this particular day. What matters is our focus on God and being able to praise His name. He is with us in the darkness and the light, in the heat and the cold, when we are mourning or celebrating.

By day the Lord directs his love,
at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.
-Psalm 42:8

He is the God of our lives. Every part of it, day and night.
My hope is that all of you know His love, and praise Him and pray to Him.
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God
-Psalm 42:11b
