Our Awesome God
November 9, 2022"When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?"
Psalm 8:3-4
In Sunday school, we discussed the word "awesome". We talked about things that have occurred in our own lives that we would consider to be "awe-inspiring" and then we were asked to think about the awesomeness of who God is.
Psalm 8:3-4 is the verse that came to my mind.
When I take a moment to think about God in all His eternal majesty - the simple fact that He is, He was, and will always be is mind-boggling. (Revelation 1:8)
Then to think of how He created the expanses of the universe that we know so little about, how He set the sun and the moon and the stars in place, the very intricacies of the small world we live in and the creatures that roam it.
We think we know so much, yet we have not even come close to touching the surface of knowing our Creator and His creation.
To me, it's quite certainly awe-inspiring.
This is the God we get to serve!
This God of the universe who thought to create you and I!
Today, I would like to encourage you to read Psalm 8. Take a moment to consider the awesomeness of who God is and what He has done.
May we then find ourselves echoing the words of David: "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the Earth!".
Psalm 8:9
