Strengthen What Remains
May 31, 2023Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God." (Rev. 3:2)
What a strong admonition and encouragement these words are! We, all of us, must become awake to what is happening in this world and apart from this world. Satan is at work in a big way in our time and we must not be unaware of his intentions and power.
We must "strengthen what remains," which is to say that there is, in fact, something remaining aside from death: our hope in Jesus Christ. Through this hope we can do the works set out for us to glorify our Father in Heaven.
Our deeds are unfinished. God has more for us to do. We cannot simply despair about the state of things these days. There are more souls to be welcomed into God's Kingdom through the hearing of His Word.
"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?" (Rom. 10:14)
