Wednesday in the Word

“Then Job answered the Lord and said: “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.” ‭‭Job‬ ‭42‬:‭1‬-‭2‬

Even through all that Job went though, in the end he could still see God’s goodness and power. No matter that he had lost almost everyone he loved and everything he owned, Job could still say that God was all-powerful (I know that You can do all things). Job could still say that God was good (no purpose of Yours can be thwarted). Job understood that God’s ways were higher than his (For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭8‬) and basically said “I don’t understand but I trust You.”

Life is not always easy. Sometimes it is hard. Really hard. Sometimes things don’t go like you think they should. If the last year has taught me anything, it is that God does not change. I may not understand why things happen the way they happen, but I can still trust God.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13‬:‭8‬ ‭
He will never forsake me.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31‬:‭6‬

If you are struggling, if life doesn’t seem to be going the way you thought it would, dig into God’s Word. It is full of His promises we can cling to in the good times and the hard times. God’s goodness doesn’t depend on how life is going. He is still good. He never changes. You can trust Him.
