Wednesday in the Word

Sunday, Chad preached about war, in the world at large and in our hearts and homes. He reminded us that God's Kingdom is coming and that His will is being done - that we are not to be alarmed. This week, as we experience the fantastic chaos that is VBS, I want to encourage us to remember these things. How fitting it is that the theme this year deals with two kingdoms at war.

So, how can we fight the battles that rage all around and within us? 2 Tim. 3:14 states "But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it[.]" Paul tells us to "continue." Keep practicing what we have learned, what we know to be true, because of the confidence we have in God's word, knowing from whom it came. Let us keep reminding ourselves and each other of the faithfulness of God, and of the reliability of His word and His promises.

Bryant spoke at the VBS volunteer meeting of how Satan will be at work amongst us this week, because he does not like what we are doing. He will be waging war in our hearts, sowing seeds of deception and doubt. He will lose, though, because he has already lost. We know this from God's Word, and can "continue" this week and beyond in the things we have learned, with the confidence and peace that God has given us.

"The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you." Rom. 16:20
