Wednesday in the Word

I can easily lose track of time watching YouTube shorts. They are short (imagine that), often
funny, and sometimes thought-provoking videos that usually last 30-60 seconds. I came across a
“short” a couple of days ago that caught my attention. The video had three people answering
quick-fire questions. The person that answered the question first got a point and the first to five
points was the winner. In this video all of the questions were about the Bible. The first question
was, “What was the occupation of the apostle Paul?” and immediately one of the three people
answered, “Tentmaker.” Everyone was amazed at how fast she knew the answer. Everyone that
is, except her. When asked how she knew she simply said, “I just read the Bible.” The second
question was, “What is the longest chapter in the Bible?” She was quick with the answer and
again everyone was surprised that she knew. Even the man asking the questions was shocked and
said to her, “How did you know that?” She gave the same answer: “I just read the Bible.” She
went on to answer every question and won the game.

It isn’t complicated. The answers are right there. How can we know? Just read the Bible.

Did you know the answer to the question, “What is the longest chapter in the Bible?”

The answer is Psalm 119. Here is what we “win” when we read the Bible:

Psalm 119:16 – I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.

Psalm 119:45 – I will walk about in freedom. For I have sought out your precepts.

Psalm 119:105 – Your word is a lamp to my feet and light for my path.

Psalm 119:129 – The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

Psalm 119:165 – Great peace have they who love your law, nothing can make them stumble.
